NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF COLEMAN
COLEMAN CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZES PHASE I DROUGHT CONTINGENCY PLAN FOR WATER CONSERVATION
-
In their regular meeting held Thursday, March 17, 2011, the Coleman City Council voted to invoke Phase I of the City's Drought Contingency Plan effective April 1, 2011. Due to the effects of the on-going drought conditions the City is experiencing, it is important to encourage the conservation measures set out in the plan. Phase I establishes certain restriction and conditions including:
*Residential and commercial lawn watering is restricted to the hours of 5:00 am to 10:00 am and 8:00 pm to Midnight. Even numbered addresses may water on Mondays and Thursdays in the allotted time. Odd numbered addresses may water on Tuesdays and Fridays in the allotted time. Runoff will be monitored and water will not be allowed to run into the street.
Commercial customers are asked to initiate volunteer conservation measures and assist the City in monitoring water use.
Lake Coleman is currently over 11 feet below the conservation level. Phase II of the Drought Plan could be invoked if the Lake reaches 14 below conservation level.
Click Here (PDF) to read the complete Drought Contingency Plan. All citizens are asked to be conscious of water utilization and do everything possible to limit utilization. Hopefully we will see sufficient rainfall soon to allow for the release of these restrictions.
