A Universe of Stories



Readers of all ages will explore all things space this summer as Coleman Public Library presents “A Universe of Stories” during their summer library program. Activities may include craft activities, story time at the “Reading Rocket Stations”, special programs: “Move your Tale” an improv group from Austin Texas. This is a great show for kids and families. Friday Movie Days “Space Buddies” & “Solo: a Star Wars Story”, and funded by the Coleman County Foundation and Friends of the Coleman Public Library “Stars & Science Mobile Austin Planetarium”. The Planetarium will be available with shows starting every hour except 12:00 – 1:00 for lunch break. Grades 1st-5th in the morning, Toddler/Pre-K/Kindergarten starting at 1:00 and the rest of the afternoon shows will include Junior High, High School and Adults.

The 2019 Summer Reading Program is open to young people, preschool through young adult, with programs, prize drawings and more. Registration for “A Universe of Stories” begins on June 5th at 10:00 am. All kinds of Space themed activities will be happening, plus there will be Reading Stations that children can enjoy being read to. Friends of the Library will provide finger foods and drinks for those attending. This year starting on June 5th parents may register on-line at our website

This year Reading Requirements have changed. Toddler/Pre-K/Kindergarten are required to have 20 books listed on their reading log, 1st & 2nd Grades, 10 book titles and 3rd-4th-5th will need to read five (5) hours. Teen Book Club will read “October Sky” and will be led by Bridget Wakefield. When the child has finished their requirements and return their reading logs, their name will placed in a bucket and they will have a chance to win a money gift card.
