Water/Sewer Utility Specialist

The City of Coleman is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Utility Specialist for the Water/Sewer Department. The Utility Specialist will perform general repair and maintenance of water and sewer lines. Work performed will be outside and exposed to the elements. Experience preferred, but not required. Must have a Class B CDL or be able to obtain within 12 months.

Examples of work performed:

  • Locate leaking water/sewer lines or clogged sewer lines.
  • Use or assist in use of heavy equipment to expose lines.
  • Use of tools, jets and other equipment to repair lines and clear blockages.
  • Other duties as required.

Street Department Laborer

The City of Coleman is seeking applicants for the position of Street Department Laborer. This is a full time, non-exempt position. Prior experience is not necessary. This position will perform manual labor tasks in an outdoor environment and will be exposed to the elements.

Examples of work performed:

  • Use or assist in use of heavy equipment to repair or construct streets.
  • Use of light equipment and tools to fill and patch holes.
  • Loading, unloading, lifting and moving material.
  • Use of equipment to clear and maintain ditches.
  • Other duties as required.

A high school diploma or GED is required. Candidates should have a Class "B" CDL driver's license, or be able to obtain one within 12 months.

Field Maintenance Worker

The City of Coleman is seeking a qualified applicant for the position of Field Maintenance Worker. This is a full time, non-exempt position. The position will be responsible for maintaining various municipal properties, including Cemetery, Parks and other properties as necessary. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Mow and trim grass, weeds, shrubs and trees
  • Operate Mowers, Weed Eaters, Chainsaws, Tractors, Backhoes, dump trucks, and other equipment as needed
  • Install playground equipment and maintain as needed
  • Install / Repair water lines in public facilities
  • Perform facility maintenance on public buildings and facilities
  • Communicate in a professional fashion with the public
  • Assist other departments as needed

Must be able to maintain a good relationship with coworkers and the general public. Interaction with others outside the organization requires exercising participative management skills that support team effort and quality processes. A high school diploma or GED is required. Candidate should have a Class "B" CDL driver's license, or be able to obtain one within 12 months.

Police Officer

The City of Coleman is seeking applications for a full-time position for Police Officer. The successful candidate must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid current law enforcement license issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. Starting salary for patrol officers is $19.50/hr. The position includes an excellent benefits package, including longevity pay and retirement with a 7% employee contribution and 2/1 matching by the city.
